Do you need a local SEO audit—or just five repairs?
If your business has one location and a small website, a forty-page technical export may be too much. Start with the visible path between your website, Business Profile, reviews, and the next customer action.
Fix the revenue path before the long checklist.
This order starts with what a ready customer can see and do. Mark a repair complete only when the public evidence has changed—not when a task was merely assigned.
CALL
Make the next step visible
Can a ready customer call, request a quote, or book from every high-intent page on a phone?First repairPut one working action near the decision point. Test the full path yourself.
Why nowVisibility cannot become revenue when the enquiry path is buried or broken.
FIT
State the service and area plainly
Can a new visitor name the primary service and service area within five seconds?First repairRewrite the first screen around one service, one area, and one next step.
Why nowPeople and search systems both need readable, specific facts—not a vague slogan.
MATCH
Reconcile public business facts
Do the site and Business Profile agree on the name, phone, hours, services, and service area?First repairChoose one source of truth and correct every visible contradiction.
Why nowA mismatch creates doubt precisely when a customer is trying to verify the business.
PAGE
Give the priority service a real page
Does the highest-value service have useful scope, proof, area, and enquiry information?First repairBuild one complete service page before multiplying thin city or service pages.
Why nowA focused page is easier to understand, verify, improve, and send to a ready buyer.
PROOF
Connect recent proof to the offer
Do recent, genuine reviews and visible project facts support the service being sold?First repairAsk every real customer for honest feedback after completed work; never script praise.
Why nowGeneric claims are weak. Specific, current public evidence reduces uncertainty.
Then inspect the system underneath.
These checks matter, but they should support a clear service and enquiry path. A perfect score on a crawler does not repair an unclear offer.
CRAWLImportant pages can be reached through ordinary links and are not accidentally blocked or marked noindex.
TEXTServices, areas, hours, and trust facts exist as readable page text—not only inside images.
DATALocalBusiness or Organization markup matches the facts a person can see on the page.
MOBILEThe page loads, reads, and completes its enquiry path comfortably on a phone.
CLEANNo placeholder labels, expired offers, broken links, or obviously outdated business details remain.
AI visibility starts with facts an ordinary customer can verify.
No consultant can guarantee that an AI-assisted search will include, cite, or recommend a local business. The useful work is less theatrical: make the public business easy to crawl, understand, cross-check, and contact.
Can the same business be verified six ways?
0 / 6 inspected
Can an ordinary visitor open the important service pages without a login, block, or broken route?
Are the real services, areas, hours, contact path, and proof stated in visible page text?
Is the profile verified, complete, and accurate for the business as it operates today?
Would a customer see the same name, service, area, hours, phone, and next step in both places?
Does LocalBusiness or Organization structured data describe only facts that a visitor can also verify?
Do recent genuine reviews, project details, and trusted public mentions support the service and area being claimed?
Verify the public inputs before drawing conclusions
Start with facts you can reproduce from the live website and Business Profile today.
All answers remain in this tab and disappear on refresh.
Google's current guidance says its ordinary SEO fundamentals still apply to generative search features. Important pages should be crawlable, useful facts should exist as visible text, structured data should match that text, and Business Profile information should stay current. Google also says there is no special AI markup or machine-readable file required for those features.
The register beside this explanation turns those boundaries into six reproducible checks. It does not ask which prompt made the business appear once; it asks whether the underlying evidence is accurate enough to deserve repetition.
Whether six public inputs are aligned today.
What it cannot proveFuture inclusion, citation, recommendation, ranking, traffic, enquiries, or revenue.
What does a local SEO audit cost in Australia?
The honest answer is not one number. The same label can mean a short screen recording, a focused public-evidence report, or a deep crawl using private search and analytics data. Compare the decision being removed—not the page count.
Checked 26 August 2026. These are current provider examples, not an average or market benchmark. Prices and inclusions can change; open the source before relying on one.

Pay for interpretation only when it removes uncertainty about what happens next.
| Option | Evidence | Output | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free self-scan $0 | Your own public checks | Eight clear/repair decisions and an on-device repair order | Obvious repairs and early-stage sites |
| Focused audit $129 | Public pages, profile, reviews, facts, and enquiry path | Six-page evidence report and 30-day repair order | One location that needs priorities, owners, and validation |

The first need is obvious.
- The business has no live website or Business Profile yet.
- You need someone to build or publish changes, not diagnose them.
- The real problem is a suspension, legal dispute, security incident, or platform appeal.
- You need multi-location, ecommerce, migration, or private analytics work.
- You expect a ranking, lead, revenue, or AI-answer guarantee.
Visible facts. Ordered repairs.
Google says local results are mainly based on relevance, distance, and prominence, and recommends complete, accurate Business Profile information. Its guidance for AI search features continues to point to ordinary SEO foundations such as crawlability, visible text, structured data, and current profile information.
Before you pay.
Six boundaries that keep the buying decision honest.
How much does a local SEO audit cost in Australia?
There is no single market price because the label covers very different work. Provider pages checked on 26 August 2026 showed a $49 ex-GST screen review, a $599 ex-GST technical audit, a $880 inc-GST small-business audit, and a $997 deeper audit. Map & Mention’s narrower public-evidence audit is $129 including GST. Prices and inclusions can change.
Is a local SEO audit worth it for a website with fewer than ten pages?
It can be, when the output is a short repair order rather than a large automated export. If the obvious facts are already wrong, use the free self-scan and fix those first.
Does the Map & Mention audit require account access?
No. The founding audit reviews public evidence only. Do not send passwords, private analytics, customer lists, or identity documents.
Will an audit guarantee higher rankings or more calls?
No. An audit can identify observable problems and organize repairs. It cannot guarantee rankings, traffic, enquiries, revenue, or placement in AI answers.
What is delivered for $129?
One business and one location receive a six-page PDF with public evidence, prioritized findings, exact repairs, validation checks, owner and effort labels, and a 30-day repair order. The fixed price is $129 including GST.
When should a business buy a larger technical audit instead?
Choose a larger engagement for ecommerce, migrations, many locations, serious indexing problems, deep performance work, or analysis that needs private Search Console and analytics data.
